Arthur Moseley Wharton of Austin, TX died on March 29, 2018 six weeks before his 80th birthday. Arthur was born in Jefferson, TX, the son of Sibyl (Moseley) and Judson Wharton.
He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1956 and then attended University of Texas. He joined the US Navy as a carrier pilot, primarily on the USS Kearsarge. He received the Vietnam Service Medal. Arthur was also in the Reserve, flying land-based maritime patrol aircraft at NAS Dallas.
Arthur graduated from University of Texas Law School. He practiced initially as an associate with a large New York City firm, before moving to Allentown, PA where he joined the corporate staff at Air Products & Chemicals, Inc. For more than 30 years, he worked primarily in securities, corporate finance, and domestic and foreign mergers and acquisitions, with substantial activity in Europe, Korea, and Latin America. He was a member of the American Bar Association and Delta Theta Phi (professional fraternity), and a former board member of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra.
Arthur met his wife of nearly 53 years, Beck Stewart, while in the Navy in San Diego. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Jennifer Wharton and Alexandra Spencer (James), grandson Judson Spencer, an aunt, and several cousins.

Visitation will be 12 – 1 p.m. in the Capt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home in Jefferson, TX. Tuesday, April 10, 2018 followed by burial at the Oakwood Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Spondylitis Association of America (www.spondylitis.org).
