Funeral services for Mr. Donald Crew Follis, 87, of Jefferson, Texas will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday November 2, 2019 at Heritage Baptist Church with Reverend Seth Buckner officiating under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home. Mr. Follis was born December 9, 1931 in De Kalb, Texas to James Follis and Elma Carter and passed away peacefully at his home on October 29, 2019 in Jefferson, Texas surrounded by family and dedicated pets; Buster, Peter and new baby Copper.
Mr. Follis honorably served his country in the Merchant Marines and in the U.S. Army. He retired as a Captain from the Santa Fe Springs California Fire Department after 26 years of service. After Retirement Mr. Follis moved to Jefferson in 1983 and became a charter member of Heritage Baptist Church where he was a part of physically building the church from the ground up.
Mr. Follis is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Laurie Branske, one brother and one sister.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jane Neuhart Follis; daughter, Donna Evans & Albert; daughter, Vickie Houchin & Bob; brother, James Follis & Cindi; sister, Sandi Van Tassel & Carl as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Fenton, Noah Fenton, Michael Evans Jr., Tristen Evans, Cole Evans and Tre Brasher.
In keeping with Donald’s giving spirit, the family has requested and urged that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to The Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ and The ASPCA at www.aspca.org/.
