Cremation arrangements for Douglas Eugene Pettey, 60, of Jefferson, Texas are being handled under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home.

Mr. Pettey was born on November 9, 1958 in Decatur, Alabama to Elliott Lawson Pettey Sr. and Barbara Ann Johnson and passed away at his home on September 22, 2019.

Mr. Pettey was a Christian who enjoyed his work as a painter for many years. He loved being independent and the beauty of the Appalachian Mountains. Because of his love for the Appalachian Mountains, his ashes will be scattered there at a later date.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Lawson and Phillip Pettey.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Jessica Bundy & Mark of Maryland; son, Matthew Douglas Pettey & Ahyoung of Tennessee; sister, Carolyn Sorrells & Danny of Tyler; sister, Linda Lafield & Byron of Louisiana; grandchildren, Morgan Daugherty, Kieryn Bundy, Athena Pettey, Tao Pettey, Alice Pettey, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
