Ennis Irvin Oney

A Memorial Service for Ennis Irvin Oney, 93, of Avinger will be held Monday, March 5, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Cpt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home with Bro. Shawn Thrapp officiating and under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home.

Mr. Oney passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018, in Jefferson, TX. Ennis was born November 18, 1924 in Marshall, Texas to Lonnie D Oney and Cordie Craver. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic – Pacific Theater during WWII and attained the rank of SGT.  Mr. Oney opened Oney’s Lakeside Inn in 1969 and owned and operated it for over 25 years.  He has been a member of VFW Post 6968 of Linden, Texas since 1963 and attended Lake O’ The Pines Baptist Church.

Mr. Oney was preceded in death by his parents, a son, twin sister, 3 other sisters, and a brother.

He is survived by his wife, Marian Oney; son, David Oney; stepchildren, Craig Hall, Kim Hall, and Lisa Drew; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lake O’ The Pines Baptist Church, 9046 Farm to Market Rd 729, Avinger, Texas 75630.
