Joyce Vernell (Grubbs) May

Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce V. Grubbs May, age 79, of Gladewater, TX. and formerly of Jefferson, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. December 28, 2019 in the Capt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home of Jefferson. Interment will follow at Prospect Cemetery in Jefferson. There will be a gathering of friends and family 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. May was born April 15, 1940 in Jefferson, Texas to Vernon L. Grubbs and Hazel Maxwell Grubbs and passed away in Longview, Texas December 22, 2019.  Joyce was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church and her faith was paramount in her life.  She was the personal secretary at Ringler Chevrolet in Kilgore, Texas for over forty years and retired in 2014.  She enjoyed playing cards, putting together puzzles, and spending time with friends and family.

Mrs. May was preceded in death by her Parents and her sister and brother-in-law; Frances and M.T. Turner.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Stephen and wife Melanie May of Rockwall, Texas; four grandchildren, Zoe May, Zachary May, Adam May, and Alex Castaneda.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, extended family and friends.
