Larry Lynn Johnson

Funeral services for Larry Lynn Johnson, 73, of Jefferson are planned for 2:00 p.m. Saturday November 4, 2017 in the Capt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home. There will be a gathering of family and friends 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Larry Lynn Johnson, 73, of Jefferson recently passed away after a brief illness at Christus Good Shepherd Longview on Monday October 30, 2017.  Larry was a longtime resident of Jefferson.  

Larry was born July 29, 1944 in Winnsboro, TX the son of Grace Monday Johnson and Augustus Daniel Johnson.  He received his education from Winnsboro Schools and soon after began a long career in banking.  Larry served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era and returned to banking upon his discharge.  Larry spent a total of 33 years in banking and attended many university courses related to finance.  Larry graduated from the Texas Tech College of Business Administration Banking program.  Upon his retirement he and his wife Jan took over full time in their business in Jefferson called Jefferson Images also know as “the Blackburn Outlet Store.”

Larry was highly involved in the Jefferson Community.  He served for 45 years as a cast member in the annual “Diamond Bessie Murder Trial.” performed during Jefferson’s Pilgrimage celebration.  Larry was involved with the Jefferson Lions club and the First United Methodist Church serving in various leadership positions.  He was active in the Boy Scouts of America as a leader and earned the Wood Badge achievement award. 

Larry is survived by his wife Jan and son Craig, both of Jefferson,  his brother Jerry Monday Johnson, brother Royce Ray Johnson and sister in law Joyce Johnson of Winnsboro.  In lieu of flowers, Larry would like donations made to the following charities: Humane Society of Marshall, 1901 Jefferson Ave., Marshall,TX., Shriners Hospital, 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, LA. 71103, and/or St. Jude's Hospital, 1501 King’s Hwy. Shreveprot, LA, 71104. 

Pallbearers include; Victor Perot, Don Preston, Bruce Abraham, Daniel McFarland, Gary Amburn, and Hollis Shaddon. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry McGovney, Ed Joseph, Jerry Steelman, Clifford Justice and Al Smith..
