Lester Earl Barker Sr.

Memorial services for Mr. Lester Earl Barker Sr., 91, of Avinger, Texas will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday November 9, 2019 at Lake O’ The Pines Baptist Church with Bro. Tim Shirley officiating under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home.

Mr. Barker was born December 10, 1927 near Kincaid, Kansas to Clarence Barker and Glyssie Coleman, and passed away October 25, 2019 at his home in Avinger, TX surrounded by friends and family.

Mr. Barker was born the fourth of four children. On October 20, 1949 he married Bonnie McGee, they had three children together and were married 44 years before Bonnie’s death on March 10, 1994.  After the passing of his first wife and mother of his children, Mr. Barker married Helen Goff on May 18, 1995 whom he was married to until her death on December 27, 2018. Mr. Barker was a Deacon at Lake O’ The Pines Baptist Church for 25 years where he was involved in many programs for the church. He was also an active member with the Mims Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance for many years.  

Mr. Barker was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Earl Ashby; his first wife, Bonnie Barker; his second wife, Helen Barker; his brothers, Orval, Joe and Don; his sons, Robert Lee Barker Sr. and Butch Barker

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Linda Glasgow of Fredonia, Kansas; grandchildren, Amanda LeBourgeois & Brad, Robert Barker Jr., Donna Jean Andrews, Kimberly Pekrul, Bonnie Jo Odell, Leah Johnson, 20 great-grandchildren, 5 great great-grandchildren as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny Raney, Bert Willis, Bernie Whitehead, Revis Haley, Joe Huff and Ron Peterson.
