Scott Deeze Quada

Due to inclement weather, funeral services for Scott Deeze Quada are re-scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday January 20, 2018 at the Faith Tabernacle UPC located at 1008 North Alley Street, Jefferson, Texas, with visiting hours from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to services. Interment will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park, Jefferson, TX.

Scott Deeze Quada, son of Dan Quada and Tincie Burrow Quada, was born on April 8, 1925, in Douglasville, Texas.  Scott went to be with Jesus on Friday, January 12, 2018, after a short illness.

Scott and Dorothy Thomas Quada were united in marriage on August 23, 1950 and celebrated sixty-six years together before her death in September, 2016.  Scott was a loving husband, father, brother, friend, and hard worker who faithfully exemplified his Christian faith and tender heart.  Scott was a World War II veteran and graduate of Technical School.

Scott worked at numerous jobs to support his family including Wells Texaco Gas Station in Jefferson, Texas, Red River Army Depot in Texarkana, Texas, Lone Star Steel in Lone Star, Texas, and Jefferson ISD in Jefferson Texas.  Scott retired from Lone Star Steel in 1989 but decided retirement life was not for him.  Scott retired from Jefferson ISD in 2002 after more than ten years of employment.  Scott established his own lawn care business and retired for the third time in 2010.  Scott’s final job was picking, shelling, and selling or giving away pecans, which he loved with a passion! 

He attended Faith Tabernacle UPC in Jefferson, Texas for thirty-four years.  Scott greatly loved and supported his church and was involved in selling an awesome package of “Pentecostal” peanut brittle to anyone who he met.  Above all, Scott loved his Savior Jesus Christ and lived the latter years of his life sharing his life story.  Scott is finally home with his Savior and his beloved wife “Dot”.

Scott loved people and no one could outtalk him!  At age 92 he continued to drive in the Jefferson community.  Each morning he had coffee with the “boys” at the local drug store and then visited all of the local businesses.  Relatives, friends, church members, and the businesses of Jefferson will mourn the loss of this outgoing and humble man who served others.  Most of all he loved playing his numerous guitars, shelling pecans, playing any kind of board, card, or dice game, reading western books and Bible, playing miniature golf, eating Mexican food, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  In case of emergency, Scott always carried an ink pen, flashlight, pocket knife, paper towels, and peppermints.

He is survived by his four children; Cynthia Quada Koontz (the late Samuel Koontz) of Jefferson, Texas, Donald Quada of Jefferson, Texas, Cheryl Quada of Longview, Texas, and Sheila Quada Bayles & William Bayles, also of Longview, Texas.

Scott is survived by four grandchildren, Andrew Koontz & Shearine of Houston, Texas, Ashley Koontz Cunningham & Jordan of Mansfield, Texas, Benjamin Bayles of Longview, Texas, and Emily Bayles, also of Longview, Texas.  Scott also has three great-grandchildren, Ian, Ava, and Kai Cunningham of Mansfield, Texas.

He is also survived by one brother Robert Quada of Jefferson, brother-in-law Dan Thomas & Jane of Atlanta, Texas, brother-in-law Ray Thomas of Huntsville, Texas, sister-in-law Neva Scott of Atlanta, Texas, sister-in-law Mary Key of Jefferson, Texas, and sister-in-law Faye Campbell & Tommy of Atlanta, Texas.  Scott leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, his retired work family from Lone Star Steel and Jefferson ISD, and his church family at Faith Tabernacle UPC.

Scott was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy, parents Dan and Tincie Quada, son-in-law Samuel Koontz, brothers Arthur Quada, Dean Quada, Charles Quada, and J. B. Quada, and faithful dog Maximillian (Max) Quada. 

Pallbearers will be Andrew Koontz, Shane Campbell, Lonnie Koontz, Doug Bernard, Rickey Wheeler.  Honorary Bobby Clawson, Mr. Bishop, John Ramsey, Table of Knowledge Coffee Group, and American Legion VFW Post 10373. 

The family wishes to thank all those who cared for, visited, or called Dad (Scott) during his short illness at Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Overton Brooks VA Palliative Comfort Care Unit, Rev. and Mrs. Story, family members, and friends.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in his name to Faith Tabernacle UPC, 1008 North Alley, Jefferson, Texas  75657.
