Sherry K McAdoo

Sherry McAdoo was called to heaven to be with the Lord on December 9th.  Born in Jefferson TX on November 12, 1938, she was the only child of Paul and Ruby Kindred.  She was preceded in death by her husband Bennie Frank McAdoo. She leaves behind a loving family including her daughter Kimberly and her husband Rodney Lebrun, her son Eddie Paul and his wife Melissa McAdoo as well as her two grandchildren Joshua and Megan McAdoo, her stepson Bennie Frank Jr and his wife Gail McAdoo and their two children Ashley and April.

She was a rare and beautiful person with a left handed approach to life, crystal blue eyes and bright red hair that made an impression on everyone she met.  As a lifetime resident of Jefferson she graduated from high school in 1957 and spent most of her career at Longhorn Army Ammunition Depot.  However, she was most well-known for her weekly column “What Was Cookin” that ran in the Jimplecute.  She derived a great deal of joy hearing from people around town that chose to share their family recipes with her.  She loved to pray, cook, spend time with her family, tell stories, write, talk about politics, and take care of her chickens.     

Sherry gave her life to Jesus Christ at a young age and lived her life by the words written in red.  Over the last twenty plus years she spent an hour each day on the phone with her dear friend Anne Rountree praying for her family and friends.  As the beneficiary of many of those prayers I can promise you they worked because we were all truly blessed to have her in our lives.   

Near the end we prayed together and discussed the blessings of heaven.  We talked about the feast our heavenly father will have prepared for all those who have been faithful.  She told me that all she wanted in heaven was big kitchen so she could help cook it. 

In her memory we ask each of you to take the time to lovingly prepare your favorite recipe, say a good strong prayer and share that meal with the people you love the most.

Graveside services will be held on December 23 at 1 pm at Trinity Cemetery east of Jefferson off highway 49.
