Carol Newman Green

Memorial Services for Carol Lee Newman Green, 74 of Jefferson, Texas will be held at a later date. 

Carol was born on November 17,1951 to Woodrow Newman and Norma Jean Treadwell Newman and passed away peacefully at her home after a hard- fought battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. She will always be remembered and loved by all who knew her. Carol grew up in Marion County, Texas. Her parents owned and operated Woody’s Camp on the south side of Lake o’ the Pines. She attended Jefferson Public Schools where she graduated with the Bulldog Class of 1970.

Carol continued her education after high school and attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. She graduated in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and English and a teaching certificate. After college, Carol spent numerous years working in the oil and gas industry. She worked for the Amoco Corporation in their Houston, Texas corporate offices before returning to East Texas.

 It was then Carol decided to follow her passion for working with children in education. She began a distinguished teaching career that spanned more than three decades. She taught Spanish and Special Needs children. Over the thirty plus years Carol served with the Longview ISD, Jefferson ISD, and retired from the Caddo Parish Schools.

Carol met and married her sweetheart Charles Alison Green on August 29th, 1985. They were married for 29 wonderful years and made their home in Longview, Texas until his death in 2014. Together they did not have any children.

Since Carol did not have children of her own, she enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and fur babies. The most recent ones Charlie and Lilly were the apple of her eye. One of Carols favorite past times was to take her sister and nieces shopping.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by: her sister Sharon Newman Younger and husband Dennis, Aunt Nadine Treadwell Joseph and husband Ed, niece Emily Younger Rogers and husband Chuck, niece Melissa Younger Lucchi and husband Mirko, nephew Andrew Younger, great niece Samantha Rogers Arden and husband Keegan, great nephew Cole Younger Rogers, great nephew Eric Lucchi , great niece Brianna Younger, great niece Haily Younger, great nephew Jacob Bowers, and several great great nieces and nephews.
