Carolyn Sue Brooks

Graveside Services for Carolyn Sue Brooks, 86 of Jefferson, Texas will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 2:00pm in Trinity Cemetery of Jefferson, Texas with Bro. Seth Buckner officiating and under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home.  A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, February the 22, 2026 from 5pm to 7pm in the Cpt Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brooks was born on April 29, 1939, in Avinger, Texas to Leonard Gilbert and Willie Plez Hicks and passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in Jefferson, Texas.

She was a God-fearing Baptist, exceptional cooking abilities, enthusiasm for travel, and outstanding social skills. At the time of her husband's passing, they had been married for 61 years; their anniversary was celebrated on December 17th.

Mrs. Brooks is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis Belton Brooks; brothers, Albert Gilbert, Clifton Gilbert, Truitt Gilbert; sisters, Mary Jane Humphrey, Linda Kay Terry, Mildred Tidwell, Mable Henderson, Willie Pearl Humphrey.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Teresa Brooks Ponder, Nolan Louis Brooks; grandchildren, Colt Lynn Johnson, Adam K. Brooks and husband Creed Brown, Nicholas Ryan Sachtleben and wife Paylor, Taylor Nicole Bounds and husband T.J.; great grandchildren, Ember Bounds, Elinor Sachtleben. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends.
