Charlotte Otwell Obituary

On Friday the 10th of November 2023 Charlotte Carroll Otwell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend peacefully closed her earthly eyes and opened her heavenly eyes beholding the full view of God’s glory, all of Heaven’s splendor, and loved ones awaiting her arrival.

Charlotte Otwell was born in Powell, Oklahoma, on December 6th, 1940, to Stanley and Helen Carroll. She married the love of her life, WN Otwell, on December 26, 1957, and enjoyed 62 years of marriage. In 1958 she gave her life to Christ and never stopped loving Him. She served as a Pastor’s wife for almost 50 years. She raised three God-fearing children, who all serve the Lord today.

Charlotte was the name given to her at birth, yet it was not a name you heard in her presence very often in the last 30 years. She rightfully inherited the name “Granny” from not only her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but from everyone her shining life touched. This title of adoration transcended familial bounds.

Everyone felt at home in Granny’s home. Granny’s living room was not her living room; it was everyone’s living room. Her table was always ready for every preacher, pastor, and visitor who passed through. The hinges on Granny’s door are worn from countless swings from everyone’s children looking to raid the candy and cookie jars. As worn as the door’s hinges are, one will be hard-pressed to find a worn place from knocking, for her door was always open. All those that entered Granny’s home felt a warmth that only Christlike love could produce; a warmth that authentic charity yields.

Granny was the very essence of a virtuous woman. Along with all the duties of a pastor’s wife, Granny pioneered a Christian school. Heritage Baptist Christian School was founded in 1976 with Granny at the helm. Granny’s work in the school and around the ministry is unmatched and unexplainable. Her energetic service was truly supernatural.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband and ministry partner, WN Otwell, and her two brothers Mike Carroll and Bill Carroll and grandson Matthew Otwell.

Those left to cherish her memory and carry on in the faith are her three children Rocky Otwell, and his wife Donna, Randy Otwell, and his wife Debbie, and Sarah Seekford, and her husband, Dale; her brother, Ferrell Carroll; her sister, Diane Reynolds, and her husband Elon; as well as 15 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Corey Seekford, Justin Seekford, Brandon Otwell, Chris Otwell, Ryan Otwell, and Riley Otwell.

Honorary Pallbearers are David Pace, Seth Moench, Wesley Pietruszka, Ryan Batton, Eddie Fortman, and Jesse Willis.

In lieu of flowers the family requests all donations be made to Heritage Baptist Church and School, 205 PR 3902 D # 101 Mount Enterprise, TX. 75681.
