Funeral Services for Dan Whatley 77, of Jefferson, Texas will be held Saturday, September 23 at 2pm in the Cpt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home with interment to follow at Trinity Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, September 22, 2023 in the Cpt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home.
Dan was born on April 10, 1946, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Leon Whatley and Lula Bee White Whatley and passed away on September 16, 2023, in Jefferson, Texas.
From a young age he was taught to repair and paint cars and no matter where he worked, he always had a place to repair cars on the side. In 1993 he bought Jefferson body shop and ran it until his retirement. Dan also served in the US. Air Force, as a fireman in Port Arthur and Sabine Pass, as a Sheriff’s Deputy of Harrison County, Chief deputy of Cass County, and a Criminal Investigator in Marion County.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son, John Layne Whatley.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Clint Whatley of Jefferson, Texas, Christi Faulkner Bullington, Casey Whatley Moore and husband Charles, and Amy Landry; grandchildren, Aly Kay Whatley, Jonathan Faulkner, Hope Faulkner, Kalayna Simpson; great grandchild, Christopher Faulkner.
Pall bearers will include Trent Smith, Jason Neuville, Jon Lopez, Jonathan Faulkner, Chris Blevins, and Charles Moore.
Honorary Pallbearers are Ricky Carter, Mike Doty, Tommy Taylor, and Mike Wolters.
