Private Memorial Services for Donald Kent Gerstenberger, 73, of Jefferson, Texas, will be held at a later date
Don was born on June 22, 1950, in Denver, Colorado to Keith and Louise Gerstenberger and passed away in Longview on August 14, 2023. On August 7, 1981, Don married the love of his life, Cara Quinn and they began building a life together in Byers, Colorado.
Don was a beloved husband, son, brother, father, and most of all, Pots. Don spent most of his life working hard to provide for the ones he loved. Some of the fondest memories of Don include the days he spent with his brother, brother-in-law, and cousins in Eastern Colorado, working at the lumber yard with his dad, or coaching a team for the girls’ softball league. Don had a love for sports, was an amazing treasure of historical knowledge, and had an innate ability to make people laugh. He was a very special man that loved his family more than anything, and his smile radiated throughout any room he entered. While Don was hard working, charismatic, and God-fearing, one of his favorite titles was dad and Pots. He was so very proud of his two children, Janna and Ethan.
When grandchildren entered his life, Don’s world began to revolve around them, and most conversations became filled with their achievements. Over the course of the past few years, he spent a vast amount of his time supporting his grandkids as they cheered, played baseball, softball, basketball, hockey, and ran track.
Don is proceeded in death by his wife of 40 years, Cara, 4 precious babies, sister Vicki Hunt, and his parents Keith and Louise Gerstenberger.
Don is survived by his daughters, Janna Duck and husband Christopher, Amy Walker and husband Ron; son, Ethan Gerstenberger; sisters, Kaye Mosbarger and Kathy Palmer; brother, James Gerstenberger; grandkids, Kaylee, Trenton, and Addison Duck and Bennie, Bailey, Jack, Sammy, and Izzie Walker.
