Eileen Lester

Graveside Services for Nina Eileen Edwards Fant Lester, 98 of Jefferson, Texas will be held on Monday November 11, 2024, at 10:00am at Oakwood Cemetery with Sue Sullivan officiating and under the direction of Haggard Funeral home.

Eileen was born on January 21, 1926, in Louann, Arkansas to C. E. Edwards and India Gertrude Warren Edwards and passed away on Monday November 4, 2024, in Jefferson, Texas.

She grew up in Simsboro, Louisiana where she graduated from Simsboro High School. Then she went on to Louisiana Tech, majoring in music. Her greatest story was that one day at Louisiana Tech she came out of class and everyone on campus was screaming “Its over, Its over!” World War II had ended. Her dad has been transferred in his job to a small Texas town, “Jefferson”. Eileen went to visit and met Reese Fant. Six weeks later they married and ended up having three children. Reese died at the age of 50 and Eileen married Dan Lester.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Reese Fant and Dan Lester; brother, Eldred Edwards, Jimmy Edwards; sister, Madel Koonce; son in law, John Whelan.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Vicki, Gary, Margaret Ann, grandchildren, John Jr. and wife Liz, Richard, Michael, Reagan and husband Joey, Randi and husband Ryan, Robin and husband Nick, and great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
