Garry was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, July 21, 1947 and went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 31, 2024.
Garry was a natural born musician. He spent his young years playing any musical instrument he could get his hands on, but his heart was always loving the guitar. At a young age, he begins writing his own songs about his own life and experiences. As a teenager he started his first of many bands and enjoyed playing at local gatherings and any place he could get an audience. As time went on his musical abilities improved and he began being booked throughout the state of Texas. He had an opportunity to play with the Rolling Stones, but instead he was off to the Army and time went marching on. After serving his country and being honorably discharged in 1969 he returned home and took up his life as a traveling musician. His popularity grew to include gigs from the United States to the Virgin Islands. He loved the islands and was a well-known entertainer with a huge following there. There he met Alex, the love of his life, and they were married with a multitude of friends in the beautiful Sandy beaches of St. Croix, Virgin Islands. They lived a very happy life there full of adventures. They later moved to Florida and after Gary and Alex grew older, they decided to move back to Texas. They drove all over the state looking for the perfect place and fell in love with Jefferson. They found their 1840s dream home and decided Jefferson was the perfect place for them. They lived there for many years and in their time in Jefferson, they met many friends and made many memories and Garry got to play lots of music. Garry did have the hardship of losing his eyesight. One of his greatest blessings was even though he was blind he could still see the world through his music and the songs that he wrote.
Garry is survived by his son Mason and daughters Ashley and Amy. He had several grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear cousin Judy and many other family members. Garry lived a full life and had so many amazing friends that filled his life with music and many blessed memories.
