Funeral Services for Mrs. Hattie Darlene Wray, 86, of Jefferson, Texas will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at New Prospect Baptist Church, Jefferson, Texas with Bro. John Givens and Bro. Mark Markle officiating under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home of Jefferson.  Interment at Prospect Cemetery will follow upon conclusion of funeral services. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in The Capt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home. 

Mrs. Wray was born on October 28, 1935, in Jefferson, Texas to Johnnie B Baugh and Aline Maxwell Baugh and passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Magnolia Place in Jefferson, Texas.  

Mrs. Wray was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church.  She retired from Southwestern Bell where she worked as a telephone operator.  She also worked for various Jefferson flower shops, Michaels, Marion County Chamber of Commerce, Texas Workforce Commission, Marion County Hospital, and worked as an EMT and as an ambulance driver.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society, VFW Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star, and Haywood Theater Group. She was an avid Jefferson Historian who decorated many of the historical homes during the Christmas season.

Mrs. Wray was preceded in death by her husband J.O. Wray, her parents, and her brother, Garland Baugh.

Mrs. Wray is survived by her five children; J.O. Wray, Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Jefferson, Texas; Ricky Wray and his wife Penny of Jefferson, Texas; Teena Herron of Jefferson, Texas; John David Wray of Jefferson, Texas; and Kyle Wray and his wife Tammy of Anna, Texas.  She is survived by her sisters, Nancy Jane Derryberry and her husband Don of Madisonville, Texas; Edie Nottingham and her husband Dearl of Gilliam, Louisiana; and Nita Duncan and her husband Jimmie of Jefferson, Texas. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Pallbearers: Mike Wood, Frankie Stone, Terry Baugh, Rodney Baugh, Sandy Duncan, Randy Thomas, and Clint Creamer.  Honorary pallbearers: Jimmie Duncan, Don Derryberry, Roger Manning, Dearl Nottingham, Cotton Hampton, and Tommy Roy Scudday.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Prospect Cemetery Association or St. Jude Children's Hospital https://www.stjude.org/.
