Private Services for Jack Wood, Jr. 70, of Marshall, Texas were held under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home.
Jack Wood Jr. was born on September 4, 1955, in Jefferson, TX to Jack Wood Sr and Melva Wood. Jack passed away on February 8, 2026.
Jack was loud, funny, and never let the truth get in the way of a good story. If you heard him tell a tale twice, you probably heard two completely different versions—and both were better than the first. He loved to laugh, loved to talk, and when he was done entertaining, he didn’t mind telling you it was good to see you,but it was time for you to go. No one ever left without a hug and him telling you he loved you..
He made rooms feel fuller just by being in them. Conversations with him were never quiet, never boring, and almost always unforgettable.
Above all else, Jack loved his son. He always bragged on him—proudly, loudly, and to anyone who would listen. His son was the joy of his life, the person he was proudest of, and the one he loved with every part of himself. His pride and love was unmistakable. The bond they shared was the truest reflection of who Jack was.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his big personality, his bigger stories, and the love he gave.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Jack Wood Sr; his mother, Melva Wood; and his sister, Hope Hughes. He is survived by his son, Jack Wood III; his sisters, Bunie Shockley; Sandra Montgomery, and her husband, Mark Montgomery; his brother, Brad Wood; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him dearly.
