Memorial Services for James Floyd Harper, 75, of Jefferson, Texas will be held at the Jefferson Academy Seventh Day Adventist Church at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022, officiated by Pastor Gene Clapp under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home.
James Harper was born in Marshall, Texas on February 7, 1947, to James Ferguson Harper and Dorothy Powell Harper and passed away on October 1, 2022, in Jefferson, Texas with his loving daughter and son-in-law by his side.
After high school James joined the United States Navy and honorably served his country in Vietnam as an Aviation Ordnanceman Petty Officer 3rd Class.
In 1988 James had the honor of being presented a special recognition by President George H.W. Bush for his significant contribution and personal service in support of the Pershing Field Artillery Missile System.
James Harper, mostly known as “Harper” to his friends and family made his career as an equipment operator for KBR and Eastman Chemical. He was an avid golfer, outdoorsman, and pool player.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Dorothy Harper, and his brother, John Harper.
Left to cherish Harper's memories are his daughter, Carrie Wilkins, and husband Tim; grandchildren, Brady Wilkins, and Ally Wilkins; Brothers, Jeff Harper, Joe Harper, and wife Charlotte; sister-in-law, Gloria Harper and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and many golfing buddies.
Honorary Pallbearers will be David Harper, Patrick Harper, Justin Powell, Bill Bolick, Alan Bradley, and Brady Wilkins.
