James C. (Jim) Noland

Funeral services for James C. (Jim) Noland, 85 of Marshall, Texas will be held on Monday July 8, 2024, at Port Caddo Baptist Church with Bro. David Shaw officiating and under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior, from 1pm to 2pm, at Port Caddo Baptist Church. Interment will immediately follow at Algoma North Cemetery in Marshall, Texas.

Loving husband, father and Papa, James C. Noland was born in Kilgore, Texas on May 1, 1939, to Mr. & Mrs. Vance D. Noland.  He graduated from Longview High School in 1957 and attended Kilgore College.  He then served in the U.S. Navy for four years, after which he worked for IBM.  Jim took an early retirement from IBM after 27 years and started his own computer store.  He later sold the store and started building and renovating houses and commercial properties, including the historic Hub Shoe Store in downtown Marshall, which was recognized by the Marshall Historic Landmark Preservation Board in 2010. He was a jack of all trades and master of many.

A relative introduced Jim to the love of his life Marie Flowers in 1964, and they married on June 12, 1965.  Jim and Marie enjoyed 59 wonderful years of marriage, making great memories and traveling the world, often with their beloved daughter Jamie Marie and other family and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Vance D. Noland, mother Bruce R. Noland, brother William “Bill” Noland, sister-in-law Billie F. Koetsier, and in-laws Bilbo & Mildred Blaylock Flowers.  He is survived by his wife Marie Flowers Noland, daughter and son-in-law Jamie Noland Smith and Michael Smith, and his beloved grandsons Grayson James Smith, Collin Demmer Smith, and Parker Noland Smith.  He is also survived by brother-in-law Steve Koetsier, niece Kathy Koetsier Bottoms and husband Ronnie Bottoms, and great-nephew Steven Moore, and by sister-in-law Kathy Noland, nephews Dee Noland and Jay Moore, and niece Kelly White, in addition to many extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Michael Smith, Grayson Smith, Collin Smith, Parker Smith, Stephen Moore, and Larry Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Koetsier, Ronnie Bottoms, Tom Wynn, Jerry Thompson and Corey McGuire.
