Funeral Services for Jerry Vinson Best, 68, of Jefferson, Texas will be held on Wednesday February 12, 2025, at 10:00am in the Cpt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home with Bro. William Scott, Bro. Warren Johnson, Bro. Richard Jones, and Pastor James Moore officiating and under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday February 11, 2025, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the Cpt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home.
Mr. Best was born on May 13, 1956, in Ruston, Louisiana to Hamilton “Hamie” Vinson Best and Mary Louise Kelley Best and passed away on Friday February 7, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family in Jefferson, Texas.
Jerry’s life was defined by his deep love for the great outdoors and the unwavering devotion he had for his family, especially his loving wife of 47 years, two sons, and his granddaughter. He found joy being outside. Whether it was in the hay field, working on tractors, riding horses, or fishing, you could always find Jerry tinkering on something. Friends and family knew Jerry as a man of strength, warmth, and boundless story telling moments.
He is preceded in death by his parents; half- sister, Bobby Sue McGowan; half-brother, Loyd Tabor.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Renee’ Best; children, Casey Best and wife Cayla, Trenton Best and wife Gloria; brother, John E. Best and wife Sue; sister-in-law, Pauline Tabor; grandchild, Conlee Carol Best; nephews, John H. Best and wife Kelsey, Heith Best; great nephew, Sawyer Best. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Cody Burns, Freddy Ward, Heith Best, John Best, Alan Branham, and Rusty Knight.
Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Sawyer Best.
