Funeral Services for Jerry Lynn Powell, Sr., 73, of Jefferson have been scheduled for Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 2pm in the Jefferson Academy Seventh Day Adventist Church with Pastor Gene Clapp and Pastor Austen Powell officiating and under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at Berea Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025, from 5 to 7pm in the Cpt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home.
Jerry Lynn Powell Sr, 73, of Jefferson, Texas, passed away, Sunday, August 31st, at his home, with his wife by his side.
Jerry was born on September 21st, 1951, to Cleo and Bessie Powell. A lifelong resident of Jefferson, Jerry was the proud owner and operator of Powell Trucking for 32 years and faithfully attended Jefferson Academy Seventh Day Adventist Church.
In Jerry’s younger years he enjoyed his horse, gardening, and later donkeys. But Jerry’s greatest love was his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Randall Powell; sister, Debbie Howard; brothers-in-law, James Chapline and Frank Howard; nephews, Larry Don Powell and Jeff Belless; and step-grandson, Brett.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Jerry Ann Powell; son, Jerry Powell, Jr. and wife Jamie of Longview; daughter, Tracy Shelley and husband Brandon of Hallsville; son, Troy Powell and wife Lizzie of Lucedale; brother, Lawrence and wife Carol of Jefferson; sister, Linda Chapline of Elkhart; sister-in-law, Liz Powell of Jefferson; grandchildren: Deacon, Elliana, Emery, Easton, Isabelle, and Ensley; stepsons: David and Leah, Joe and wife Lei, Ben and wife Katie; and daughter-in-law, Coralie. He is also survived by twelve step-grandkids and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
