John "The Mailman" Brooks Obituary

Memorial Services for John "The Mailman" Brooks, age 58 of Jefferson will be held at 2PM Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the Captain Wm. Perry chapel of Haggard Funeral Home with the Rev. Virginia Pevey officiating. Cremation arrangements under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home of Jefferson.

John Andreas Brooks was born January 5, 1963, in Schoenenberg, Germany to Johnie Paul Brooks and Gertrud “Dixie” Enders and passed away on November 16, 2021, in Jefferson, Texas.

Mr. Brooks honorably served his country for over 20 years in the United States Air Force which included his involvement in Desert Storm. After retiring from the Air Force, John went on to work for the United States Post office where he worked for 14 years until the date of his death. John was lovingly called “The Mailman” by many young and old members of the Jefferson community. He met the love of his life while stationed in Germany and they were married February 18, 1997. John loved riding motorcycles, but his greatest love was his family. Nothing came before his family.

John was preceded in death by his father Johnie Paul Brooks and brother Thomas Roger Brooks.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sonja Brooks; son, Justin Brooks and his mother, Dixie Brooks, his In-Laws, Gernot and Christina Schneider, his aunt, Uschi Brand and cousins as well as numerous other extended family and friends here and in Germany.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Justin Brooks, Joey Romano, Lee Trautman, Steven Ponder, and Dennis Hamm.

In Lieu of flowers the Brooks family has asked for memorials to be made to the Air Force Assistance Fund www.afassistancefund.org.
