Justin Wade Blackburn

A celebration of life for Justin Wade Blackburn, 48 of Farmers Branch, Texas will be held at a later date.

He was born on April 18, 1978, in Alexandria, LA. to John Roberts Blackburn, MD and Betty Ruth Hackney Blackburn and left us on May 31, 2026, in Fort Worth, TX. He was a special gift from God that we were blessed to have with us for 48 years.

Justin, or Gus as his friends knew him, loved music from an early age. He played guitar and was in many bands in his younger years. He was also a certified diesel mechanic, a painting contractor and his last “gig” was as a stage manager for his buddy, Pat Green. Music has always been a big part of his life! Touring with Pat and the guys in the band and crew was what really made his heart happy. They became a dear part of his family for the last 7 years.

The love of his life was his wife, Monica. They were together for 21 years and were married over 10 of those years. Together they loved going to concerts, hosting friends by the pool, and traveling to anything Disney, especially Disneyworld. Gus proposed to Mo in Disneyland with a Mickey Mouse ring!

He loved his cats Pete, Nina, and Dorian, but he also loved every person that came into his life. Smiling, laughing, and talking with people was who he truly was. Every day was an opportunity for him to meet someone new and share his joy. He was always willing to help anyone at any time.

The number of people dear to him is greater than can ever be counted! To know him was to love him. I don’t believe he ever met a stranger. Old or young, rich or poor, male or female. He would walk right up to them and say, “Hi, I’m Gus”. We will never know how many people Justin touched with his infectious laugh and sweet smile.

Justin is preceded in death by his father, grandparents, JD and Lola Blackburn, Fred and Little Bit Hackney and numerous extended family and friends.

Those Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Monica Olivas Blackburn; mother, Betty; brother, Jason Roberts Blackburn; in laws, Sylvia Flores and husband Chava; brothers in law, Salvador Flores and wife Maricela, and Andrew Flores. He is also survived by many other family members and a great circle of dear friends.
