Karen Jean McCawley

Cremation Service for Karen Jean McCawley, 76, of Avinger, Texas are under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home.

Born June 10, 1947, in San Diego, California, Karen was the

middle child of 3 children.

Growing up in the 1950's and 1960's, she enjoyed a

happy childhood in Southern California. Throughout her life she had an

artistic eye and excelled at arts 'n crafts and interior decorating.

After graduating from high school, she married and had 2

children, Jeff and Lorna. After a few years, she remarried and

had a son Derrick.

Her life brought her to Arizona where she resided for

several years. She returned to her hometown and lived for over

20 years. As her health declined, she moved to New Mexico

where she lived for 4 years. During her final few months, she

stayed with her niece Kim Ellickson Blankenship in Texas. Kim

provided comforting care for her until she departed on June 18,

2023.

Preceded in her passing was her father, Verne R.

Ellickson, mother, Marjorie E. Ellickson and eldest brother Gary

Ellickson. Surviving are her younger brother Ron Ellickson, her

children Jeff, Lorna and Derrick, her niece Kim Ellickson

Blankenship,her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be missed.
