Funeral Services for Lucy Virginia "Genny" Alfia, 84, of Jefferson will be held Sunday, November 6, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson, Texas with Rev. Mark Crim and Rev. Virginia Pevey officiating.  Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery under direction of Haggard Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 5, 2022, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Captain Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home.

Lucy Virginia “Genny” Alfia was born August 17, 1938, to Thomas Allen and Dollie Hatcher Walker in Cass County, Texas.  She attended school in Linden, graduating in 1956, then attended business school in Dallas.  She began her work career at Davis Insurance Agency and finished it as a legal secretary for Vial, Hamilton, Koch & Knox, spending 46 years in the Dallas area.  She retired in 2002 and moved back to East Texas where she said she was going to get to know her family again.  She enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings with family and friends.  One of her greatest joys in later life was visits from her great-great nephew, Kian.

Genny was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Thomas Benson Walker and wife Jean, Charlie Malcolm Walker and wife Addie; two great nephews, Josh, and Daniel Walker; one great niece, Dana Pierce; a great-great nephew and niece.

She is survived by one sister, Barbara Hampton (Cotton); nephews, Charles Walker (Karen), Joe Walker (Becky), and Darrell Hampton (Angie); nieces, Cheryl Sneed (Jesse), Charlene Doyal, Richelle Rathbun (Larry), and Tracey Powell (fiancé Tommy Hooper); great nephews, Jesse Walker (Laurie), Trey Rathbun (Lydia), Dustin Hampton (Courtney), Christopher “Pip” Powell, Aubrey Doyal (Ashley), and Zack Powell (fiancé’ Amie Breckenridge); great nieces, Amber Walker, Jennifer Hicks, Lacy McMillon (Justin), Denise Campbell (Jon), Elizabeth Marlar (Chet), and Jeannie Allison (Bryce); a number of great-great-great nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.
