Funeral services for Marie Flowers Noland, 83, of Marshall Texas will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 17, 2025, at Port Caddo Baptist Church with Bro. Drew Smith officiating and under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home. Interment will follow immediately at Algoma North Cemetery in Marshall Texas. A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 3:00-5:00 PM at Port Caddo Baptist Church.
Loving wife, mother, and Mimi, Marie Flowers was born in Karnack, Texas on April 7, 1942 to Bilbo Flowers and Mildred Blaylock Flowers. She started working for Harrison County in the tax assessor’s office following her graduation from Marshall High School in 1960. She became Harrison County Tax Collector/Assessor on January 1, 1976, and retired on December 31, 1995. At the time of her retirement she and her daughter Jamie Marie Noland were the only known mother and daughter to have served as countywide elected officials in Texas.
She met the love of her life James C. Noland in 1964, and they married on June 12, 1965. Jim and Marie enjoyed 59 wonderful years of marriage, making great memories and traveling the world, often with their beloved daughter Jamie Marie, their grandsons Grayson, Collin, and Parker Smith, as well as other family and friends.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband James C. Noland, her parents Bilbo and Mildred Flowers, her sister Billie F. Koetsier, in-laws Vance D. and Bruce R. Noland, and brother-in-law William “Bill” Noland and sister in law Kathy Noland.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Jamie Noland Smith, son-in-law Michael Smith, and her beloved grandsons Grayson James Smith, Collin Demmer Smith, and Parker Noland Smith. She is also survived by her aunt Virginia Thompson, brother-in-law Steve Koetsier, niece Kathy Koetsier Bottoms and husband Ronnie Bottoms, great-nephew Steven Moore, nephews Dee Noland and Jay Moore, and niece Kelly White in addition to many extended family and friends
Pallbearers are Grayson James Smith, Collin Demmer Smith, Parker Noland Smith, Larry Thompson, Corey McGuire, Ryan McGuire, and Steven Moore. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Smith, Steve Koetsier, Jerry Thompson, and Ronnie Bottoms.
