Mrs. Martha Ann Marchbanks Ford passed away Sunday, September 8, 2019 in Springdale, AR. Martha was born on December 26, 1926 to Leland and Gladys Marchbanks in Halls, TN on the family farm. She was the second of seven children.
After graduation from Halls High School in 1944, Martha was given a pass to the USO where she met Andrew Ford. They were married on May 10, 1945. While in New Boston, TX they had 3 children and were later blessed with a fourth after they moved to Jefferson, TX. After raising her children, Martha returned to work as a bus driver transporting hearing impaired children to Longview where she was also a teacher’s aid for their special education classes for 9 years. After retirement, she was offered a job at the Excelsior House that kept her engaged with the community and the visitors to the area. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson for 53 years before she moved to Springdale, AR to be near her daughter.
Martha is survived by her brothers Jim and Bob Marchbanks, her sister Dot Harber, and her children; Lucy Martin and husband Jerry Martin, Joseph Ford, and Camellia Ford. As well as: 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and countless nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Andrew Ford, her son Johnny Ford, her brothers David and Raymond Marchbanks and her sister Marguerite Chipman.
Visitation will be held at Haggard Funeral Home in Jefferson, TX on Thursday, September 12th from 5-7 pm. The funeral will be Friday, September 13th at 10:00 am with Brother Jeff Taylor officiating in the Capt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home.
