Memorial Services for Michael “Mike” Melvin Morris, Sr., 80, of Harleton, Texas. will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 2pm in the Cpt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral. A visitation will be held from 5pm through 7pm on Friday, February 3, 2023, in the Cpt. Wm. Perry Chapel under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home.
Michael “Mike” Melvin Morris, Sr. was born on May 8th, 1942, in Henderson, Texas to Mary Elizabeth Haden and Turner Oree Morris and took his last breath on January 30th, 2023, at the age of 80 in Longview, Texas surrounded by his loved ones. Mike was married for forty-two years to Barbara June Morris then lived the remaining years with his life-partner Carol Wilson-Morris in Harleton, Texas. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, an avid deer hunter, fisherman and gardener. He retired after working for Amoco for over 30 years. He spent life after retirement enjoying his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, telling jokes, eagerly awaiting and preparing for each crawfish season, sitting on the front porch, and appreciating life around him.
Mike is survived by his life partner Carol Wilson-Morris, his siblings Johnnie Tipton, Ronnie Morris and Rubie Richardson, his children Michael Melvin Morris Jr., wife Carol Morris, and daughter Teena Morris; Grandchildren; Chelle, Josh, Brian, Brad, and Shelby; Great-Grandchildren; Lilly, Jordan, Kennedy, Olivia, Grayson, Austyn, and Avery along with eleven nieces and ten nephews. He is also survived by numerous other extended family and friends.
