Memorial Services for Michael Splechter, 81, of Longview, Texas will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10:00am in the Calvary Tabernacle in Longview, Texas with Rev. Paul Haygood and Rev. Charles Chaigois officiating.
Mr. Splechter was born on June 6, 1944, in Carbondale, Illinois to Joseph Harry Splechter and Violet June Champion Splechter and passed away on July 6, 2025, in Longview, Texas.
Michael was born with an incredible ear for music and could play over 20 different instruments. His main instrument of choice was the trumpet for which he won numerous honors and awards while in high school. His Mother taught him his first chords on the guitar at the age of 4 and he would sit and play those chords for hours. He was also blessed with a beautiful singing voice – the guy had it all. He traveled for several years across the US with various gospel music groups. In his later years, he and his wife settled in Longview and attended Calvary Tabernacle Pentecostal Church where he continued to play the guitar and trumpet in the church band. I’m sure he's playing in that heavenly band while singing praises to our God.
He is preceded in death by his parents’.
Those left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife, Patti Splechter; daughter, Michelle Yates and husband Aaron; sister, Sharon Haygood and husband Rev. Paul Haygood; brother-in-law, Rix Bussey and wife Carolyn: niece, Johanna Luker and husband Ian: nephews, Tyler Haygood and wife Brooke, Dean Bussey and wife Karen. He is also survived by numerous other extended family and friends.
