It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Wayne Johnson, a devoted husband, a loving father, son and brother. Michael left us far too soon on June 27, 2025. Michael was a beacon of constant kindness, calm resolve and compassion, touching the lives of countless individuals during his journey and work.
Born on July 3, 1985, in Marshall, Tx, Michael spent his formative years in Jefferson. He began laying the foundation for a life filled with purpose and meaning. His early achievements showcased a blend of determination, faith and grace. Michael attended Hudson ISD, Jefferson ISD, Jefferson Adventist Academy and finished his senior year thru a Christian based home school. He enjoyed church, fishing, baseball, hunting with his dad, uncles and cousins and family life. Michael enjoyed watching Chloe and Landon in any and every athletic or school event, they also enjoyed movies and any outdoor activity. Michael also loved going to the gym and working out.
One of Michael's most extraordinary qualities was his ability to inspire love and uplift others. Michael had recently read the entire Bible again and had read the book of Job over the past week prior to his death. Michael completed the Fire Academy through Kilgore College and the EMT program through Panola College. Michael worked for the Gladewater Fire Department and Christus EMS in the East Texas area. Michael cultivated a legacy of compassion that will live on in the hearts of those touched by his presence and through his work as a First Responder.
Michael was eager to share his knowledge of the bible and was always reading, learning and leaning on the knowledge from his Grandmother Laverne and Pastor Ernesto Illingworth. Tithing, keeping the Sabbath, the writings of Sister Ellen G. White and the opportunity to "pay it forward" were important to Michael.
His love for his children, Landon and Chloe was unparalleled, and their presence in his life was the center of his world.
Michael was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Myrl Lee and Bessie Laverne Johnson; maternal grandparents Johnny Donald and Grace Annette McKinley; uncle, John Donald McKinley; and cousin, Randy Johnson.
Michael is survived by his wife and loving companion, Keri Bobo Johnson; son, Landon Johnson; Daughter Chloe Johnson; Mother, Linda McKinley Johnson; father and stepmother Michael Leslie Johnson and Luann Johnson; his sister and brother-in-law Lauren and Nicholas Jones; nephew Harrison and his niece Gracelyn; stepsons Drew Johnson and Cade Johnson; father and mother-in-law Larry and Linda Bobo; brother and sister-in-law Marc and Kim Bobo; step grandchildren Carter and Harper Johnson; his uncles and aunts, Melvin Johnson and Elisha, Milton Johnson and Robin; several first cousins; and special friends, David and Cheryl Steingas. They will carry forward their memories with enduring love.
Though Michael may no longer walk among us, he will remain an eternal force, guiding and inspiring those fortunate enough to have known him. As we bid farewell, we hold close the memories of laughter, love, and kindness that he shared. His legacy is a reminder to live each day with purpose and integrity.
Michael will be deeply missed but forever remembered!
