Mike Moore Obituary

Charles Michael Moore was born to Arthur Wayman Moore and Rose Mary Wise Moore on August 16th, 1950 in Evansville, Indiana. He passed away peacefully on September 1st, 2022 with his family at his side. Despite being born in Indiana, his feet were placed in a box of dirt from Marion County TX immediately upon arrival. “Mike” grew up in Jefferson and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1968. He went on to graduate from North Texas State University in Denton with a degree in Business Administration. He was engaged in sales for his entire career.

Mike was a true outdoorsman. He loved to sit and observe God’s creation. He loved being in the woods and he deeply cherished the memories and camaraderie of hunting and fishing with his brothers, son, grandsons, and nephews. He talked often about the many trout fishing trips to the White River with his Dad and brothers. Mike was also fond of the Texas coast. He and his beautiful wife Sondra particularly enjoyed vacationing to Rockport, where they made countless memories at their favorite places there. He loved to ‘pick’ at her, and their sweet marriage was full of playful laughter. Mike also enjoyed collecting old items, especially books and magazines . He kept anything related to the family as he was quite sentimental. He adored his grandchildren and enjoyed meals with them. The family had treated him to dinner on his recent 72nd birthday on August 16th. His first grandchild, Estella Rose (aka Little E and the Austin Flash), had a special place in his heart. She could always make him laugh no matter how he felt.

Mike is preceded in death by his mother, Rose Mary Wise Moore; his brother, David Mark Moore; and his nephew, Brian Bode.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 28 years, Sondra Townlin Moore; his son, Jason and wife, April; his daughter, Sarah Fincher. His four grandchildren, Estella Roster, Cayson Fincher, Samuel Moore and Mary Beth Moore. He is also survived by his father, Wayman Moore; brothers Pat (Robin) Moore, Robert (Penny) Moore, Chris (Penny) Moore and Richard Moore and sisters, Pam (Mike) Watts, Terri Moore, Anna (Cliff) Bode, Mollye Moore and Kris Kain. He is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews. His relatives by marriage include the Townlin, Traywick, Henry families of Ashland, all of whom were very dear to his heart.

Mike was a member of Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church in Longview. Visitation will be held at Haggard Funeral Home in Jefferson from 5-6:30pm on September 9th with rosary to follow for those who would like to attend. His funeral service will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Jefferson, TX at 10:00am on September 10th, 2022. The family will then hold a private graveside service at Ashland Cemetery near Diana Texas.
