Onetta "Nita" Vaughan

Memorial Services for Mrs. Onetta "Nita" Vaughan, age 87 of Jefferson will be held on Saturday February 24, 2024 at 4pm in the Cpt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home with Bro. John Givens officiating and under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home. 

Onetta “Nita” Vaughan was born April 25, 1936, in Emory, Rains County, Texas to Elmo S. and Fannie M. Waldrop Melton and passed away February 10, 2024, in Jefferson, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe Vaughan, Grandson Dustin Weeks, sisters Thelma Lake, Ida Sanders, and brothers Floyd Melton, and Bill Melton. 

Mrs. Vaughan was educated and raised in Emory, Rains County, Texas.  Upon moving to Jefferson, she worked 40 years for George E Haggard Funeral Home and Insurance Company and George T Haggard Properties. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jefferson, Texas.

Mrs. Vaughan is survived by her children; Randy (Stacy) Wilson, Ricky (Jennifer) Wilson, and Eric (Jana) Wilson.  Grandchildren; Devin Wilson, Jamie (Kelly) Wilson, Brandi Wilson Gallegos (Justin), Taylor McQueen, Whitney Wilson, and Weston Wilson; Ten great grandchildren, and sisters; Iva (Jim) Ingram and Helen Gonzales.

Mrs. Vaughan enjoyed spending time with her family and made every attempt to be at the school functions of her grandchildren, rarely missing one of their events.  She was a talented painter. Her beautiful outward appearance was nothing in comparison to her beautiful heart and soul.  Spending time with Nita was a joy as she could always make you laugh.
