A celebration of life for Oscar Lynn Ray will be held at his and his wife, Gaynell’s home at 1 pm August 9, 2020.
Oscar (Eli) Lynn Ray was born December 3, 1951 in Winter Haven, FL. To Glyn Eric Ray and Elizabeth Warren Ray and passed away June 24, 2020 in Shreveport, LA. Eli graduated from Auburndale Senior High School in 1969 and immediately joined the U.S. Army. He fought in Vietnam with the 173rd Airborne Brigade as an Infantry Paratrooper. He loved being at home working in his yard, playing his harmonica, and just enjoying life on “the hill” with his wife of 21 years, Gaynell Ray.
Oscar was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Olyn Ray; and sister, Joy Jones.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Gaynell Ray of Karnack, TX.; son, Noah Ray & Eyenne of Athens, GA.; daughter, Melissa Dosher of Bartow, FL.; step-son, William Ramsey & Chasity of Jefferson, TX.; step-daughter, Joyce Rutz & Matt of Jefferson, TX; son, Ryan Johnson; sister, Janice Williams Roush & Blaine of Auburndale, FL.; brother, Ron Ray & Camilla of Jacksonville, FL.; brother, Paul Ray & Julinny of Dover, FL.; brother Larry Ray & Carolyn of Auburndale, FL.; grandchildren, Dakota Eli Ray, Natalie Ramsey, Jenna Ramsey, Lukas Ramsey, Devin Dosher, Dylan Clark, Alyssa Clark, Alison Clark, Caden Rutz, Emma Rutz, and Marley Rutz; god-daughter, Tori Gulley and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
