Memorial Services for Peggy Duncan Rayburn, 87, of Jefferson, Texas will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 11:00am in the Cpt. Wm. Perry Chapel of Haggard Funeral Home with Father John Himes officiating and under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rayburn Was born on February 3, 1938, in Jefferson, Texas to Minnie Lela Stone and Morris Shepard Duncan and passed away on June 12, 2025, following a brief illness.
She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1956 and then attended business school in Tyler, Texas. After completing courses, she returned to Jefferson and worked at Thiokol Chemical for six months before moving to Dallas in 1958. Peggy Married, David Allan Rayburn in August 1963 in Dallas, Texas. Peggy was passionate about her family and friends. Her sharp wit, ready smile, and clever sense of humor brought much laughter. Peggy enjoyed two professional careers while living in Dallas. From 1958-1966, she was employed by Merrill Lynch and from 1960-1966 was Executive Secretary to the Sr, VP of the Merrill Lynch Dallas Branch office. She was a stay-at-home Mom from 1966-1980. In August 1980, she was employed by Frito-Lay as an Administrative Assistant and over her tenure of 22 years she assisted various Directors and Vice Presidents before retiring in 2003. She was a former member of the Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club where she enjoyed giving tours of the Jay Gould Car. She was also a long-time member of the Altar Guild at Christ Episcopal Church.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of almost 57 years, the love of her life; brothers, Marcelan, Raymond, and Robert; nephew, Richard.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Carl Rayburn and wife Charla, Michael Rayburn and wife Melissa; grandchildren, Prestyn, Henry, Brooks, and Bailey; beloved sister-in-law, Lyda Duncan Clark. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
