On a beautiful spring day, my dad, our Paw Paw, our uncle, and our friend, passed away from this Earth.
Richard M. Blevins was born in Upshur County April 4, 1931, to Nemons R. Blevins and Ethel M. Wheeler Blevins and passed May 26, 2023, at the age of 92.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sons; Richard Murray Blevins, Jr. and Dennis Reed Blevins, brother; Reed Blevins, great grandsons; Hunter Lane Oney and Nolan Reed Blevins
Richard spent most of his working life in the oil fields of East Texas. He started working for Dan Lester Drilling Company at the age of 16 and continued until he and his business partner, Bernie Wolford, bought the company. He enjoyed having coffee every morning with his coffee drinkers including Mr. Ed Joseph, Mr. L.W. Powell, Raymond Keasler, and others.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Sheila Starnes, his four grandchildren, Richard Brian Oney, Kyle Reed Blevins, Jordan Starnes and Leslie Flournoy as well as five great grandchildren, three nephews, Raymond Keasler, Victor Keasler, and Vic Ford.
Paw Paw loved Purple Hull Peas (Thanks to Jim Rivers and Jim Taylor and Pizza King Pizza). Family and friends of Richard Murray Blevins would like to thank the nurses and staff at Magnolia Place. Great Job! Thank you to Mr. Gene Lee of Hospice of Marshall for his messages of encouragement and words of comfort.
