Ruben Penner was born on November 20, 1929, in Fairview, Oklahoma to Abraham Penner and Eva Eck Penner and passed away on February 20, 2025 in Jefferson, Texas.

Ruben was the firstborn of his many siblings, and they grew up together on a farm in the sandy part of Major County, Oklahoma.

He had to return home to work helping the family after some schooling and then returned to finish High School where he was Co-Captain of the football team and ran track in the State Championship. He went on to honorably serve in the Army for 2 years in Europe at the end of World War II before coming back home to marry his fiancé Clarice Isaak, and raising his family. He was a hard worker, processing poultry, welding, custom hay hauling, firewood, farming and some construction.

Ruben Penner will be remembered not only for his dedication to his work and family but also for his unwavering faith and gentle spirit. His family and friends recall his generosity and kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a warm smile. Ruben's life was a testament to the values he held dear, inspiring those around him through his actions and words.

In his later years, Ruben was the custodian of a hospital and found joy in simple pleasures, whether it was tending to his garden, taking leisurely walks around Jefferson, or crafting beautiful copper roofs for birdhouses. His creativity and craftsmanship were admired by many, and his custom work became a cherished part of his son and daughter-in-law's business.

Ruben's deep connection to his faith was evident in his active participation in the Woodlawn Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir and engaged in various church activities. His commitment to instilling Christian values in his family has left a lasting legacy, with his children and grandchildren carrying forward the principles he so passionately upheld.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ernest; sisters, Katherine, Malinda, Ida, Rose, Margretha, and Susanna.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Clarice Jeanene; brother, Ervin; sisters, Penny, Elizabeth, Esther and their families. Sons, Dennis and wife Kathy, Steve and wife Barbara and Richard and wife Karen and grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Travis Penner, Chris Penner, Blake Winn, Kade Winn, Zion Penner, and Vincent Penner
