Rufus Doyle Todd

September 12, 1927 ~ March 27, 2020 (age 92)


Rufus Doyle Todd, 92, of Jefferson went to be with his Lord on Friday March 27, 2020 in Longview, Texas. Graveside services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Saturday April 4, 2020 at Shiloh Cemetery in Linden, Texas with Taylor Duncan and Sue Sullivan officiating. There will be an open visitation from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM Friday April 3, 2020 on a come and go basis at Haggard Funeral Home in Jefferson, Texas.  Due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic we are limiting ALL gatherings to a total of 10. I apologize for the inconvenience; however, it is not only for the safety of the family we are serving and our staff, but for you and your family’s safety as well.

Mr. Rufus Doyle Todd was born September 12, 1927 in Cass County Jefferson, Texas to Rufus E. and Addie B. Hatcher Todd.  He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, his wife Berta (Betty) Todd and his companion of 12 years, Louise Warren.

After attending high school in Linden, Texas Doyle joined the Maritime Service from 1945 to 1950. Doyle then joined the Army and was located in Germany from 1950 to 1952. While serving in Germany he met the love of his life, Berta Blandina Bader, who came to the United States in 1953.  They married on September 24, 1953 and started their Journey together.

Doyle owned and operated his own Barber Shop in Jefferson, Texas for 56 years from 1953 until retiring in 2009.  Where there were a lot of storytelling, laughter and friendships made. Many came by just to catch up on what was going on in our small town.

His hobbies were a good day of fishing, gardening and studying the Lord’s word.

Doyle has been a lifelong member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Linden, Texas.

Those left to cherish his memory include special friends Kim and Ronnie Jackson; Shelby, Ryan, Lawson & Lincoln Knight; nephew, Michael Bader of Germany; cousins, Jimmy Carroll of Jefferson, Texas, Jerry Lee of Jefferson, Texas, Dana Bagot of Amarillo, Texas; special friend, Mary Grace Colvert of Bearden, Arkansas and many other lifelong friends.

Special Thanks to Trent Gale, Stephanie Gibbsons, Magnolia Place Skilled Nursing & Rehab Center and the wonderful Doctors and Nurses at Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center for their compassion and care for our loved one, Doyle Todd.
