Funeral Services for Steven Ray Chambers, 78, of Harleton, Texas will be held at 11am on Friday, January 12, 2024, at The Chapel on the Hill on the campus of East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas with Rev. James Fleet officiating and under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at Colonial Gardens.
He was born and raised in Marshall, Texas and was a proud Northsider. He attended Marshall and Waskom schools and graduated from Marshall High School in 1963. Steve worked at Thiokol and attended barber school at Kilgore College. He styled hair in Marshall for over 35 years and his joy was giving kids their first haircut. Steve also managed Johnson Tire Company and Southwest Meter and Supply. He was a long-time youth Soccer Coach and a lifelong Methodist. Steve was a plural member of the Marshall Masonic Lodge # 22 AF&AM and Little Cypress Masonic Lodge #1459 AF&AM. He was a member of the Smyrna Methodist Church in Harleton, Texas.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Chambers; Former wives, Sheila and Cathy.
He is survived by his wife Leslie Howell Chambers; children, Steven Chadd Chambers, Shannon Renae Blassingame and husband Robert, Colt Chance Chambers and wife Dana; brother, Bobby Chambers; sister-in-law, Peggy Ford Chambers; grandchildren, Brooke, Blake, James, Mason, Caroline, Evelyn, Taylor, and Addie. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
