Memorial services for Susie Nell Collier, 83, will be held at the Jefferson Academy Seventh Day Adventist Church on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
Susie Nell Collier was born May 20, 1938, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Louis Elisha and Laura Winifred Winderweedle Gifford and passed away March 22, 2022, in Jefferson, Texas.
Susie married James Edward Collier on October 7, 1958, in Fort Worth, Texas and 4 sons were born to this marriage. After several years of travel, the pair settled their family to the Jefferson area where their sons attended Jefferson Adventist Academy.
Mrs. Collier was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother. Her home was always open to the community where her loving spirit and soft tone welcomed everyone with open arms. She spent her life giving to everyone she met without hesitation. Her pride was in her family and her nursing career which suited her selfless heart to help those in need despite the long hours (which she made look so easy). She could ease pain through her kindness and instilled good values in her children and grandchildren through encouraging words in line with her favorite Bible verse Philippians 4:13 - “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” She enjoyed reading and had a passion for playing the piano. Her love for Jesus and the dedication she exemplified to her calling was felt by many.
Proverbs 10:7 says, "The memory of the righteous is a blessing."
We know that God is pleased to have one of His kind and generous angels back in his arms. She will be sorely missed. Those left to cherish Mrs. Collier’s memory are her husband, James E Collier Sr.; sons, James E Collier Jr. and wife Mirian Collier, Johnny R. Collier, Ronald Collier and wife Melissa Collier, and Irvin Collier; grandchildren, Cecily, Kim, James III, Nicole, Christopher, Madison, Tiffany, John Eric, Jessica, Joey, April, Ginger, Emily, and Megan Collier; great grandchildren, Nadia, Natalia, Kira, Mckinnley, Morrigen, and Israel; and sister, Linda June Gifford.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter Deana Sue Collier, brother Stephen Gifford, and sister Beth Gifford.
