The angelic escort for Mrs. Virginia Kay Prentice arrived long before the morning sun rose on Saturday June 19, 2021. The precious, sweet soul of this dear wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend was gently ushered into the presence of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, the One she had trusted, loved, and served since she was 10 years old.

Kay was born on September 22, 1956, in Houston Texas to Mr. B. H. Pierce and Mrs. Virginia Pierce. She graduated high school in 1975. It was only a short time later, the Lord brought her the love of her life, Gary Prentice. They were married December 31, 1977, in Carthage Texas. Cherishing one another dearly, through many mountain-tops and valleys, they faithfully served the Lord together for over 43 years.

Kay was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She spent her early years lovingly nurturing and training her sons to be godly young men in the Lord. Everyone who knew Kay, knew that her Lord, her husband, her family, her church family and her friends, were her life. Despite Kay having to deal with frequent and often serious health problems over the years, one was hard-pressed to catch her without her sweet smile and an encouraging word.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, B.H. and Virginia Pierce; her brothers Barry Pierce and David Pierce and her grandson Levi-Colton Prentice.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gary True Prentice; her son, Donaven Brines, his wife Lisa and daughter Aster; her son, Bradley Kersh, his wife Elisahah; their son Caleb and his wife Destinie; sons Josh and Thomas; daughters Dusty and Charity; her son, G.T Prentice, his wife Sarah; their son Zachary and his wife Mary and son Marcus; their sons Benjamin and Jacob; their daughter Heather Kristine; her son, Chad Prentice, his wife Christi; their son Clayton and daughters Caitlyn and Caylee; her son, Scotty Prentice, his wife Carmen; daughters Madison and Chloe and son Ty; her sister, Mary Ann Jolley and her husband Joe; her brother, Dennis Pierce and his wife Mary Kay; her brother, Daryl Pierce and his wife Elizabeth; and two sisters-in-law.

Serving as pallbearers will be Caleb Kersh, Zachary Prentice, Joshua Kersh, Ben Prentice, Jacob Prentice and Clayton Prentice.

Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Kersh and Ty Prentice.
